Our Story

Camas born and raised Jyl Straub, is a 27 year hair guru in the industry. She started working at The Wild Hair right after she graduated from Camas High School, when they opened on October 1st 1990. The salon is one of the longest running businesses in Historic Downtown Camas.

 

After eighteen years working for previous owner, Bev Gadbaw, Jyl took over the salon in 2008. Currently, there are four stylists at the salon.

 

The Wild Hair team is very charismatic, and are always involved in community work and activities for Downtown Camas. Highlights of their teamwork include earning third prize for their float at the 2011 Camas Days Parade, and the East Clark County Relay For Life 2013 , where their team 'The Wild Hair Warriors' won first prize for 'Mr Relay' and was also one of the top groups that donated to the event. They are also active participants for 'Locks of Love' and 'Looks Good, Feel Better'.

 

The Wild Hair was awarded an Honorable Mention in NW Stylist contest for two years (2008 & 2009). From mild to the wild look, their stylists are up to date with the hottest trends, looks and specializes in edgy cuts & colors to make you stand out in the crowd. The Wild Hair boasts customers from all walks of life including Miss Oregon Plus, local rock stars and even pets - all at a reasonable price!
